The SEBS Research Excellence Award is given annually to a faculty member based on the merits of:
- Socio-economic significance of his/her research program
- Compatibility with Rutgers overarching areas of academic opportunity
- Utilization of interdisciplinary resources
- Sustainability and recognition, as evidenced by grants, awards, or through acknowledgement by peers, industry, government, policymakers, or the general public
- Quality of publications and presentations
- Demonstrated excellence in research processes and procedures
- Initiatives that promote general understanding or engagement with his/her research
