The first of the new UNOLS new RCRV’s (Regional Class Research vessels) Taani is nearing completion

DMCS professor Liz Sikes toured the shipyard where the RCRV (Regional Class Research vessels) are being built in Houma, Louisiana, as part of the UNOLS Council (University-National Oceanographic Laboratories System) fall meeting.
The Taani is the first of 3 all new vessels that are due to join the Academic Research Fleet in the next 2 years. The Taani will be operated by Oregon State University (OSU). Leading the tour was Dr. Clare Reimers of OSU (pictured at right) who is the Project Support Office Scientist.
