A Rutgers University unmanned aerial vehicle search and rescue project, lead by Hugh Roarty, heads to Port Monmouth, NJ to conduct a final drop test. A device created by Jaden Dicopoulos, undergraduate researcher, sits at the bottom of a 3DR Solo drone with the ability to carry and deliver a life preserver. Joined by fellow RU COOL undergraduate researcher Daniel Prakash, the three prepare the drone to complete the test over the water before it is presented to the life guards of Long Branch, NJ. Cutting rescue response time for lifeguards and saving lives at the shore is the primary goal of this research team.
