Congratulations to Bhavyaa Tyagi

Congratulations to Bhavyaa Tyagi, who has been selected for the prestigious Link Foundation Ocean Engineering and Instrumentation (OEI) Fellowship! She will continue her work in the lab of Dr. Benedict Borer, which studies how physics, chemistry, and biology drive microbial interactions at the microscale and how these collectively govern global biogeochemistry. With support from the fellowship, Bhavyaa will develop a microfluidic device to study marine microbial chemotaxis in situ. The same platform opens up new ways to isolate previously unknown bacterial species based on their metabolic preferences, with potential biotechnological applications. Her ultimate goal is a self-contained, deployable system for high-throughput assessment of bacterial populations across the hydrosphere.
