Daphne Monroe has been promoted to Full Professor. This promotion reflects her internationally recognized research program focused on understanding how marine ecosystems adapt to change, the implications for marine food production systems, and how to sculpt effective marine management practices. She has coupled her large research program to undergraduate and graduate teaching with a heavy focus on the experiential learning. Finally, her research efforts are important to a wide range stakeholders making Daphne an extraordinary ambassador for Rutgers serving the needs of the general public, state/federal government partners, and local New Jersey companies.
Dan Barone has been promoted to Full Research Professor. He has built a thriving research program that is well funded from a diverse array of state and federal funding agencies and also anchors critical courses in the Departments of Marine & Coastal Sciences and Geography. His focus on the consequences of human engineered systems on the physics at the land-ocean interface is critical to New Jersey given its highly urbanized coastline, several centuries of development, and planning/responding to climate-driven ocean warming and sea level rise.
Danielle Santaigo Ramos has been reappointed. She has been using isotope geochemistry to understand global biogeochemical cycles, seawater evolution, and the mechanisms maintaining Earth’s climate, as well as the mineral-based signatures of life. Her research complements the department’s undergraduate and graduate teaching. Danielle has become a critical teacher to the department and having stepped up to cover gaps in the teaching when some faculty had medical issues. These efforts make her a valued member of our community providing significant service on behalf of Rutgers.
Fiorella Prada has been reappointed. She has developed a research program focused on understanding biomineralization processes in aquatic systems and how these processes might be affected by variable and changing climate. This focus is critical for understanding the future of coral reefs as well as interpreting paleorecords derived from minerogenic data. This work has significant visibility and is published in the highest profile journals. Fiorella has also established a successful teaching program that is important to the undergraduate and graduate programs in the Department.
