Two years ago, the first major comprehensive book on climate change and estuaries was published — (Kennish, M. J., H. W. Paerl, and J. R. Crosswell, Eds. 2024. Climate Change and Estuaries. Taylor and Francis – CRC Press, London, New York, and Boca Raton. 664 pp.), with DMCS faculty playing a significant role in its production as authors of chapters and in editing the volume. A copy of the book cover is attached. This book has received many accolades over the past two years from coastal, estuarine, marine, and climate scientists around the world.
Last week, Taylor and Francis – CRC Press contacted me with information on its impact on coastal, estuarine, marine, and climate sciences. According to the publisher, the eBook (full book and/or individual chapters) has been downloaded more than 13,000 times across 31 different countries and 191 different institutions over the past two years. Print copies have also circulated globally. The publisher notes that the book has had a major impact in multiple fields, and they expect this to continue going forward.
There is clearly a strong global interest in climate change at all academic levels. This highly successful book also says a lot about the impact and visibility of Rutgers DMCS both nationally and in many other countries.
