These photos are from filming days at the Rutgers University Marine Field Station, for a new dance film, Breaking the Surface, which will bring attention to climate change and specifically sea level rise in the region. The multidisciplinary film is a collaboration between artists from the Rutgers Mason Gross School of Art and scientists from DMCS and is funded by a grant from the University Research Council. These days of filming in July were the first phase of the project which is projected to be completed by the end of the fall semester. Hopes are then the film tours K-12 schools, engaging students in climate science and the arts and demonstrating how collaborations between the arts and sciences can have a impact and draw attention to climate issues.
