2007-01-22 tpatters@webbresearch.com: installed digifin
This glider is also equipped with the Vemco fish finder courtesy of Matt Oliver at the Univ. Of Deleware.
Glider recovered aboard RV Caleta by Mike Garzio.
15:48 GMT
Turned science computer off.
Battery getting low, optics to seldom sampling or turned off soon.
Changed sampling of optics to every other downcast to save power.
Added ctd41cp timestamp to TBD, changed SBDLIST to new format with more locational data.
Turned glider around for recovery. Battery getting low and uncertain conditions nearshore. Let optics sample away, and hope we can get into next week for recovery.
Glider not swimming very quickly. Wondering if this is due to ru25d prototype wings (must check that this glider indeed has those wings).
Turning around soon for recovery, and may issue a new SBD that monitors heading better (as a result of ru16\'s situation).
Glider a bit too light, turned vehicle around from offshore.
Altimeter discrepancy of 1-2 m on segment ru15_2011_244_3_122_sbd
Backed off altitude to 4.25 m off from 3.5 m.
Good segment to use if you want absolute depth of water measurement since we hit bottom.
Sped glider up on climbs(1000/-150) hopefully explains why it did a circle.
Increased pitch_max_battpos to .06
Slowed glider down (+- 180 cc), wobbling quite a bit on yo\'s in roll and heading. Will see if that helps. 2 hour missions.
