Optode tested in lab after recovery. Optode has failed. The cable works (tested on another optode), also tested the optode on a new cable to confirm that the optode does not work. Will need to be sent back to YSI.
Recovered by Chip, Laura Wiltsee, Ariel (Stockton undergrad) aboard NJDEP boat out of Atlantic City.
surfac40 to 4500 sec (1hr, 15min) surfacings for recovery tomorrow.
Goto updated to go straight to inshore waypoint for recovery tomorrow.
SFMC notes from haldeman:
2019-08-05 22:18:00 Inshore wpt added for recovery tomorrow. Likely won't be too close w/ the currents it's seeing.
2019-08-02 18:52:25 New goto added that has an offshore jog back to the cold pool as per J. Kohut prior to heading toward recovery point. Missing cache files have been tx'ed as well.
2019-08-01 16:08:16 Going back to 2 hr missions as well (from 30 min)
2019-08-01 16:05:46 Also knocked optics (puck) back to sample same as LISST for some additional power savings until recovery early next week.
note from haldeman: Aborted for science_super approx 5 am EDT 8/1/19; it's the optode again. Unable to u4stalk at sea. Disabled in proglets and sample.ma.
Turned to head north outside of tug and tow lanes; N 39 13.525 W 74 18.315 Will add a ping pong point for the weekend as well.
Optode uart put errors caused device error abort.
Possibly optode not working need to take out of proglets, 30 min missions and optode off via mission until then.
Constantly changing pitch angles to help with VV
-.05 / .45 dive/climb battpos
from -.05/.4 (climbing a little steep)
Glider unstable.
Not sure why, H shouldnt be that different from other years but certainly more weight in the ends of the vehicle.
Pitch control is reversed (unstable) meaning battery is aft on dives, forward on climbs. This wrecks havoc with control system so switched to fixed battpos and much better so far.
Increased pitch and battpos data in SBD.
LISST has been running every 6th yo since deployment.
Need to do H moment on this glider when it gets back
