Short History
I grew up in Cape May County, NJ alongside the ocean and have always been fascinated by marine life. I interned at the National Aquarium in Baltimore while working towards my bachelor’s degree, focusing on behavior of the marine mammal and avian residents there. After graduation, I joined the AmeriCorps program, which took me to New England and then to the west coast, and worked for environmental non-profits in Oregon and then Montana focusing on ecological restoration and environmental education, working closely with community volunteers and school-aged students. After moving to Florida, I spent time at the Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota to survey nesting sea turtles, seagrass in manatee habitats and volunteering for the marine mammal rescue program before moving back to the tri-state area to work in environmental policy and advocacy around land use. After learning about the pending off-shore wind projects through a regulatory lens, I decided to return to school and my original love of the ocean to learn how to generate relevant data that can influence policy to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
Research Interests
Broadly, I am interested in exploring the impacts of climate change on marine mammal migration, and how new technology such as off-shore wind turbines might impact those same species.
