Research Interests

Biological Oceanography, marine primary production, phytoplankton physiology, virus ecology and diversity, host-virus interactions, molecular evolution, genetic expression, genome analysis and comparison, biogeography of marine viruses, and coral health and disease.

Short History

I was born in Sofia (Bulgaria) and immigrated to Israel in 1990. After finishing high school I completed 3 years of national service in the Israeli Navy, and then travelled for half a year in Australasia. Then, I moved to Great Britain where I did all my higher education from 2005-2013. After living and working in Oxford for a short period of time, I moved to the US and have since been residing in NJ, working as a Postdoc, and enjoying life near New York; one of the most vibrant and fascinating cities in the world. I play chess and am a proud Trekkie.
