Graduate Student Opportunities
DMCS is part of the Institute of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences (EOAS), which each year offeres a small number of Graduate Fellowships. Graduate students interested in Earth Systems are required to apply through the discipline specific graduate programs, such as the Graduate Program in Oceanography (GPO). The application deadline is January 15th each year. The program director of each program will submit suitable candidates for consideration for an EOAS Graduate Fellowship. Graduate students that are registered in one of the EOAS affiliated graduate programs are invited to particpate in the Earth Systems Certificate Program.
Several DMCS faculty are also members of the Coastal Climate Risk & Resiliance (C2R2) program. The trainee program offers research-based Masters’ and Ph.D. students in Rutgers’ Earth system sciences, social sciences, and engineering graduate programs the opportunity to conduct research that integrates natural, socio-economic, and engineered elements of coastal systems. To be consided for a C2R2 traineeship potential trainees should have applied to the GPO, and send an expression of interest for the C2R2 traineeship to Carrie Ferraro ().
