SummaryThis glider deployment, in the South Atlantic Bight, focuses on measuring the nearshore (<30m) oceanography and recording
observations of acoustically telemetered animals. The mission will zig-zag the coastal ocean between ~10-30 m water depth, and
will measure environmental conditions using a pumped CTD, Aanderra Optode, and Wetlabs Fluorometer. Integrated Vemco acoustic
receivers will also record detections of animals carrying acoustic tags, but we will be targetting Atlantic Sturgeon and Sand
Tiger sharks, which were tagged in the Mid-Atlantic region. The glider is equipped with lithium batteries, and will travel from
Charleston, SC to Jacksonville, FL between mid-January and April
