Teaching Philosophy

Education is vital to the development of an understanding society. As a part of society, my role is to educate others as well as to be educated, thus broadening the circles of knowledge. By getting students interested, involved and active, both physically and mentally, in the field of marine science, I hope to guide them in developing their minds, through first learning basic concepts, then using that information to make connections and realizations not only about the ocean, but in any environment around them. Laboratory exercises may be focused on a particular topic, but I aim to facilitate their cognizance on how this knowledge can be extrapolated to the big picture. By increasing the number s of the population with even the most basic scientific background, my students can in turn use what they have learned to teach others and further our world.
