Current research interests include marine invertebrate taxonomy, systematics, phylogenetics, and population ecology using molecular approaches.  Other interests lie in the areas of community ecology, behavioral ecology, and climate change. Emphasis is on 1. biodiversity, phylogeography, and phylogeny of Polychaeta (Annelida); 2. the role of pre- and post-settlement dispersal and habitat selection play in creating benthic community patterns at multiple spatial and temporal scales; 3. linking pattern and process using experimental approaches; and 4. multidisciplinary/collaborative research.
