RUTGERS iCOOL
Links to Data Resources on the Web

Links to the most current data and most legible imagery I can find online. Emphasis on the North Atlantic and the coasts of Europe. I'll be adding to this as I find additional information. Please notify me of broken links. Thanks, ~Lisa  lojanen@marine.rutgers.edu

Data Sources

Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive at NASA JPL

The PODAAC offers global topography, SST, ocean winds, circulation and currents from a variety of instruments. Includes daily, 8day, monthly, and yearly SST data for MODIS Terra (2000-present), Aqua (2002-present), and AVHRR (1985-2006). Visit their data catalogue for more information . Direct FTP access is here.

Ocean Color data from NASA

The NASA Ocean Color Forum website provides documentation and data access to MODIS, SeaWiFS, OCTS (Ocean Color and Temperature Scanner) and the CZCS (Coastal Zone Color Scanner). Access to certain SeaWiFS data is restricted and discussed here. All data is provided in a variety of formats described here. Level 3 data has already been processed into useable "products" such as SST, Chl, and attentuation among others.
Access Level 1 and Level 2 swath data in .hdf format.
Access Level 3 data; includes daily and composite images in .hdf format.
