DESCRIPTION

The Ocean Color Monitor (OCM) is carried aboard the Oceansat-1 polar orbiting satellite. This satellite operates in a near-polar sun synchronous orbit. The OCM is:

• an 8-channel device, with 6 channels in the visible range (0.402-0.422µm, 0.433-0.453µm, 0.480-0.500µm, 0.500-0.520µm, 0.545-0.565µm, and 0.660-0.680µm)
• and 2 channels in the near-IR range (0.745-0.785µm and 0.845-0.885µm)
• with a cross-track ground resolution of 360m
• Spectral properties of the OCM channels.

OCM processing functions require a TeraScan Oceansat license.

Level 0 OCM data is ingested and calibrated by the TeraScan function ocmin.  ocm_color extracts ocean-color variables, and ocm_chlor generates chlorophyll values from water-leaving radiances.
