What is a TeraScan Function?

The TeraScan software consists of several hundred TeraScan functions--UNIX commands developed especially for capturing data from remote-sensing environmental satellites and  processing, distributing, and displaying the data on the TeraScan system.

Many functions (such as data-processing functions) can be run individually from the command line to modify datasets in a step-by-step manner.  The same functions can also be automated by linking them into scripts.

Many of the TeraScan functions have been incorporated into TeraScan graphical user interfaces (GUIs).  The same functions can, however, be run from the command line by users who have a need or preference for command-line input.  Some users may also have need for additional capabilities found in functions available only from the command line.
