Through the JCNERR Coastal Training Program we are pleased to offer both Technical Training and Scientific Outreach Training Opportunities. Our workshops are frequently cosponsored with our partners, such as the NJ Coastal Management Program, Rutgers Center for Remote Sensing and Spatial Analysis (CRSSA), The Barnegat Bay Estuary Program, and Rutgers Cook College’s Office of Continuing Professional Education.

Barnegat Bay Research Symposium

The goal of this seminar is to educate citizens, NGOs and decision makers about the impact that they have on the environmental health of the Barnegat Bay watershed and estuary.
Participants will leave the seminar knowing:

• The extent to which land use has changed in the watershed
• The effects these changing land use patterns are having on water quality and quantity
• How their activities throughout the watershed have a “downstream” effect
• The reasons for investigating the health of the bay and how this research is being done (i.e. what parameters and indicators are studied and why these are chosen)
• What the research results tell about the changes in Barnegat Bay
• How they can do to educate others about the changing health of the bay.
