The S-coordinate Primitive Equation Model (SPEM) is a finite difference ocean circulation model. It has been used for a wide variety of regional and basin scale applications, as well as more idealized problems. It has been described in Haidvogel et al. (1991, JCP) and in the SPEM 3.9 User's Guide. This is the latest version of the manual and is mandatory reading for using the model. It is also available in hardcopy from kate@ahab.rutgers.edu.
The model is currently at version 5.2 and a list of changes since version 3.9 is in the SPEM README file. Future changes are unlikely since our development efforts have moved on to our free-surface models. All our models have email lists - sign up by sending "help" to majordomo@ahab.rutgers.edu or through our feedback form. The source code for SPEM is available below.
