Courses

Many courses offered at New Brunswick, Camden and Newark campuses of Rutgers University have field components that take advantage of the Pine Barrens. Often students in these courses pass through the field station to use our facilities or to learn about our research.

Dr. Dighton offers classes at both the New Brunswick campus and the Camden Campus.

Courses are also conducted at the field station. These courses are designed to immerse students in the practicalities of conducting ecological research and to introduce students to the pine barrens as a model ecosystem.

Student Internships

A limited number of undergraduate internships are offered over the summer for 10 weeks. Students will work with faculty or staff to generate a research project, which they will see from conception of hypotheses through data collection and analysis to a written report. There are limited funds to support students, but volunteers and students willing to work for credit are strongly encouraged.

We often have funding for undergraduates to work as part of a research team for specific funded projects. This is a good way to obtain field experience, learn new techniques, have fun, and even earn credits.
