The National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERR)
is using the System Wide Monitoring Program (SWMP) and
national network of research scientists and educators,
to play an important role in linking ocean observatory
data streams to key users including coastal managers,
K-12 teachers, and their students.
Even before there were modern day oceanographers, humans
have been intrigued by the sea. It's in our nature to
want to explain the how and why of our world. Ocean observing
systems are providing scientists with the ability to collect
environmental data and monitor the conditions of our coastal
oceans dynamically and continuously in real time.
