MARE Action Planning Guide

We have developed an online tool to get you thinking about your plans for MARE activities for the coming year, as well as to help us determine what assistance we can provide to your MARE leadership team and staff as you implement the program. Please complete and submit the brief questionnaire below.

Both new and veteran MARE schools are expected to provide us with responses regarding your action plan. Please identify an individual to serve as a point-of-contact for the program at your school who can provide this information. Please remember that the MARE staff is here to help and support you. Our support will be based on your input, so please be honest and thorough in your answers.

Target date of awareness presentation for your staff: It is best to do this at your first or second faculty meeting of the new school year! Veteran schools should target new staff and new schools should work on whole school participation
Date of MARE staff in-service: It is important that your faculty work together to develop a plan for your school. Leading them through a sample activity will help them to understand the program and how to conduct a MARE lesson. If you are not sure of an activity contact us for help in deciding what may work best for your situation.
What sample lesson will you teach at the in-service? Using your MARE grade level binder or your institute binder binder, what lesson do you plan on using with your staff to demonstrate the MARE and Ocean Literacy concepts? How does this lesson correlate to the Ocean Literacy concepts?
What materials do you need for the in-service? Are there materials you need from us that will help you with conducting your lesson? Does your school have a plan for how to get necessary materials/resources to the whole school faculty?
