The Autonomous Nodes
The Autonomous Node Array was developed by the Ocean Systems Lab of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
In July of 2000, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution deployed six
autonomous nodes off of Great Bay, New Jersey. These nodes consist of a buoy and
thermistors (thermometers) located at different depths in the water. Data
from these nodes is sent to the Tuckerton Field Station every hour via radio
modem, and put on the web. Pictured above is a cartoon of what the node array
looks like. Above is a map of the Node locations.
