Warmest Water in Years - June 2, 2002
AVHRR Sea Surface Temperature Image
They say records are made to be broken, and this year we are breaking
the all time temperature highs in the New York Bight. The National
Weather Service at Mount Holly released a statement this morning saying
"Buoy 44009 located 26 nautical miles southeast of Cape May NJ hit an
alltime record high water temperature of 83.1 degrees Thursday Afternoon."
Temperatures throughout the bight are in the upper 70s to low 80s.
If you don't enjoy swimming in the ocean because it's too cold, this
is definitely the time to take a dip.
