Amazonia's Physiographical Characteristics and Rainfall Relationships Studied by Remote Sensing

4. CASE STUDIES

In order to understand the structure of the convective systems that occurred during the period studied, three specific cases are analysed. The surface data analyzed was obtained from a microclimate tower at Nossa Senhora pasture  (10 45'S, 62 22'W) site near Ji-Parana, Rondonia.  In particular we analyzed the air temperature, the downward short wave radiation at surface, the wind speed,  and wind direction. In addition, information on the reflectivity and Doppler velocity was taken from the ground-based radar profiler. Also the images from the ground S-pol radar, was used to understand the spatial structure and evolution of the systems that occured in the cases studied.
