I am broadly interested in sea level research and climate and how sea level rise into the future will affect coastal communities. I feel a personal connection to this issue as my family’s beach house on the New Jersey shore is annually threatened by changing ocean conditions and storms. My passion for the power of the ocean has been a part of me for as long as I can remember, beginning with my summers building sand castles and watching the sea engulf them. Through my work in oceanography at various labs as an undergrad, I appreciated on a real-world level how the analysis of meticulously collected data would contribute to an understanding of sea level change that would in turn help coastal communities prepare for the effects of sea level rise.
I grew up in Media, PA and am excited to be back in the northeast for grad school. I am always looking to further our understanding of how natural systems work and connect to each other, and how humans depend on these systems. I love reading outside, traveling, swing dancing and latin dancing, playing piano and guitar, going for bike rides and long walks, and swimming in the ocean. I enjoy spending as much time as possible outdoors and learning about our planet.
