Education: Ph.D., Stony Brook University, New York

Research Interests: Adaptive strategies of marine, benthic invertebrates, especially commercially exploited shellfish, to environmental stress (e.g. overwintering and harmful and toxic algal blooms, including producers of domoic acid, paralytic shellfish poisoning toxins, brevetoxins). Grazing interactions between toxic algae and suspension-feeders.

Aquaculture  and ecophysiology of bivalve mollusks.  Factors controlling their reproduction, larval development and metamorphic success. Nutrition and development of new diets. Development of behavioral, physiological and biochemical indices of stress.  Management strategies for rehabilitation and stock enhancement of coastal shellfisheries. Estuarine predator-prey dynamics and the role of submerged aquatic vegetation.
