Postdoctoral Research Associate Position in Coastal and Estuarine Ecology
A postdoctoral position in coastal and estuarine ecology in the Institute of Marine and
Coastal Sciences (IMCS) at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey is
available. The overall goal of the targeted research project is to assess the ecosystem condition of New Jersey's coastal waters. More specifically, the focus will be to determine trends in water quality and to develop biotic indices of ecosystem condition and health. The position will entail the processing and analysis of comprehensive biotic and physicochemical databases on estuarine and coastal marine environments. A well-rounded understanding of estuarine and coastal marine science is necessary. The applicant should have a strong background in biostatistics and data management.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in marine biology or related discipline, extensive experience in data processing, data management, and statistical analysis of multivariate data sets. Experience in GIS is a plus. The ability to work independently and in teams on
interdisciplinary problems is important. The successful applicant will work
closely with Professors Michael Kennish at IMCS and Richard Lathrop at Ecology

The appointment is a fulltime position for one year with possible extension to two years contingent on available funding and successful evaluation of performance. The position is to be filled before the end of 2010. Salary is competitive and includes full benefits.
