Research in Science and Engineering (RISE) is an undergraduate SUMMER
research program to advance diversity in science, math and engineering.
RISE is jointly sponsored by two of the nation's leading public research
institutions -- Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey and the University
of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). 20-25 outstanding undergraduates
are chosen to participate in cutting edge research in the sciences, math,
and engineering under the guidance of prominent faculty mentors. Participants
are paid a stipend and receive free on-campus housing. Underrepresented
students from economically/educationally disadvantaged backgrounds, and
those who are the first generation in their families to attend college
minorities are especially encouraged to apply. Admission to RISE is highly
competitive.
