Research Interests:
In Short: Coastal Physical Oceanography.
In Long: My background is in Physics and Geophysics, with Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics. I recieved my BSc (Physics) and MSc (Geophysics) at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. My Master's Thesis was on Internal Tides on the Northeast coast of New Zealand.
My currents interests are: the physical oceanography of the MAB (Mid Atlantic Bight) region- projecting surface currents (from CODAR data) to give depth profiles of currents off the New Jersey Coast- determining the physical reality of results of EOF (Empirical Orthogonal Functions) analysis and PCA (Principal Component Analysis) .- learning to program in C++ and Fortran90, and becoming more familiar with the UNIX environment.
Future projects: comparing ROMS output to real data (from the LEO experiment)- studying for my qualifying exams- deciding on an exact project for my PhD thesis!
Other Interests: I am the chairperson of the International Student Affairs Committee (ISAC), part of the Graduate Student Association http://gsa.rutgers.edu/isac/isac.html. I am also the vice-president of the OGSA (Oceanography Graduate Student's Association) http://marine.rutgers.edu/OGSA/, and a member of the Cook College Graduate Students Association (Cook GSA).

Personal Interests:
Activities: Swimming, Walking, Dancing, Soccer, Pool, Scuba Diving (or will be when I've finished the course, I hope), Hiking, Board Games & Cards
Reading: Contemporary Fiction, Fantasy, Popular science (esp. Physics, Evolution & Genetics), philosophy, history, religions
TV & Movies: esp. British comedies, Foreign Films, Aussie & NZ movies (including LOTR of course).
