Research Interests:
Research involves use of global climate models to examine how climate might change in the future as atmospheric greenhouse gases increase, with an emphasis on changes in the hydrologic cycle and the Arctic climate system. There are two primary components of the research: one is on the impact of climate change on large river systems, and the other is on the role of climate feedbacks in high northern latitudes.

Of particular interest are water and energy budgets and interactions and feedbacks among climate variables such as clouds, atmospheric water vapor, radiation, atmospheric and oceanic transport, and changes in permafrost and active layer depths in high northern latitudes.

Related teaching activities include an interdisciplinary upper level undergraduate seminar course on climate change.
