My research is the area of climate change. The focus is on understanding the global hydrologic cycle and the role of the ocean in the climate system. A global coupled atmosphere-ocean model has been developed to study the present climate system and a potential future climate in which atmospheric levels of greenhouse gases are increased. The coupled model has been used to study high latitude hydrologic processes, river flow, coastal processes, the role of the atmosphere and oceans in poleward heat transport, air-sea interactions, and climate drift.
