Homework Policy Homework assignments must be turned in at the beginning of the indicated class period. Grades will be dropped one grade for each day the assignment is past due. It is better to turn your assignment in late and get a low grade then to not turn it in at all and get a zero.

Read Mauriello (1989) and Nordstrom et al. (2000) and outline your responses to the questions identified below:
- List the advantages of constructing and maintaining coastal dunes identified in both articles.
- Outline a follow-up study on any topic (original or identified in the readings) that will provide support for return to a more naturally functioning beach/dune system in a municipality on a developed coast.*
- Provide a problem statement that will allow you to proceed to conduct a study of sufficient scope to be a viable term project.
- Identify why you think this study is a good one.
- Briefly outline your methodology (the steps you would to allow you to adequately address your problem statement), including specification of the location or type of location that would be the best place to evaluate your problem statement.
- *Note: For Question 2 (a to c), you may substitute an outline for the study you are considering for your term project rather than an outline for a follow-up study to the two readings
Formal problem statements for term projects are due on November 2. We will discuss problem statements in class on October 28, so students will have a clearer idea of practical topics.
