Question on Physical Oceanography Exam, Sept. 28, 1999: "What
Success Secrets would you like to pass on to next year's class?"
(The following are the actual replies in the order
they were submitted.)
- Read all
sheets distributed in class - many times.
- Study the
notes given out at the beginning of class.
- Study and
read, its not like high school anymore!
- Read the
chapters.
- Pay attention
in class!
- Study a couple
of days @ least for the A.
- Diagrams.
- Study the
diagrams.
- If you have
any time between eating, taking the bus and the bathroom, READ!
And freshman beware!

- The waves
chapter seems hard but it is not. - Support the Surf Rider Foundation
- Study Diagrams - learn the concepts.
- Make use
of the Marine Science website.
- Don't just
know the stuff, understand it how it reflects in the lectures
& also in today's society.
- Go surfing/first
hand experience.
- Stay on top
of the readings, read before and after each lecture.
- Keep up with
readings; take detailed notes; and learn the diagrams.
- Stay awake,
and get out the shore where it's all really at!
- Go to class,
take good notes, know diagrams (not just how to draw them, but
the concepts behind how they work).
- Read the
assignments and pay attention in class.

This test is a good slap in the face.
- Understand
the beginnings of processes and learn how to derive answers not
memorize & read the book.
- When you
think you know the diagrams really good, study them some more.
- Although
the diagrams were boring, they were essential. I would have definately
looked at them better. As well as reading the book more carefully.
Definately Diagrams.
- Start studying
from day 1, and keep up.
- Know and
understand the diagrams.
- Go to class.

& Diagrams.
- Keep up with
the readings. Don't wait until the last minute to read the text.

seems to be right in the Northern Hemisphere.

book as much as your notes.
