Question on Physical Oceanography Exam, Sept. 25, 1998: "What
Success Secrets would you like to pass on to next year's class?"
(The following are the actual replies in the order
they were sumbitted)
- Go to class.
- Know how
to draw diagrams. Study hard from Day 1!
- Memorize
the diagrams.
- Study diagrams.
- Just keep
up with reading and notes.
- Study a good
amount. -practice graphs -read notes right after class keep up
with the reading & go to class.
- Pay attention
to the diagrams.
- Don't miss
as many classes as I did.
- Attend all
the classes & try to understand the material rather than memorize
it.
- Explore the
topics on your own to generate an interset in them - it will make
learning easier.
- Prepare hard
for exam.
- Understand
concepts not just notes & words. Be able to apply them to diagrams.
- Remember
examples from class.
- Read the
book & add info from the book to your notes.
- Study early.
- Read the
chapter you covered before the next class so you can ask a question
while everything is still fresh in your mind.
- Study diagrams.
Read over what you don't understand in the book and read about
topics that are just briefly mentioned b/c they could end up on
an exam, i.e., sidereal day.
- Know more
about Ekman transport - b/c a lot of it on test.
- Get to every
class and take plenty of notes.
- Study diagrams.
