2000 Students' Secrets of Success

Last Question on Physical Oceanography Exam, Sept. 29, 2000: "What Success Secrets would you like to pass on to next year's class?"
(The following are the actual replies in the order they were submitted.)

  • Study more kinds of diagrams.
  • Diagrams.
  • Graphs!
  • Take good (Very Good) Notes.
  • Read!!! Listen. Go to Class. Study Tides.
  • Read notes understand flows & processes.
  • Go over diagrams that are important (ones mentioned in class).
  • Come to class.
  • Give yourself PLENTY of time to study!!!
  • Study diagrams.
  • Listen to Mr. Glenn.
  • Have fun.
  • Study every day for a couple of days!
  • Study the diagrams and read the chapters. And start studying early.
  • Know the history even though we don't discuss it in class!
  • Have fun, relax, maybe, maybe even breathe, and you'll do well J.

  • This is a tough class, you have to come to class & understand the concepts throughly!

  • Go to the beach and really look at it. It is really good to see the subject in Action.

  • Practice drawing all of the important diagrams in both the handouts and the book. Devote yourself to this class and DO NOT procrastinate or this test will devour you like the "sea monster" it is. J

  • Listen to Prof. Glenn he knows what he is talking about (and what will be on the test) Don't be shy to ask him to clarify. Know diagrams. DUH.

  • Emphasize that you will need to know the Prologue because yes you do say that we should read it however you failed to mention that specific were going to be asked.
  • Success is very simple go to class, keep up with reading, and study hard.
  • Read the book soon after lecture & highlight relevant material & diagrams so it will be easier to focus on important material when exam time roles around!
