September 14, 2011- Quail in the Classroom
Pola Galie of the Natural Resource Education Foundation of New Jersey will discuss the “Quail in the Classroom” project, a partnership of schools, NJ Divisions of Fish and Wildlife, Forestry and the New Jersey Quail Project (a venture of the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance Environmental Projects).  This program is designed to heighten awareness of the importance and stewardship of wildlife habitat. 


October 12, 2011- The Bog at Warren Grove
Join Bill Smith of JAWS, Ltd. as he discusses the building of his carnivorous plant bogs in Warren Grove that serve as an educational demonstration site for bog gardening.  His goal is to promote interest and understanding of this unusual plant community and to contribute to its survival through propagation via seedling culture and selection of typical and unique clones.


November 9, 2011- The Fish Factories
Menhaden (Brevoortia tyrannus), aka bunker, were once in abundance along the Jersey Coast.  Pete Stemmer, historical researcher from the Bass River Historical Society, will talk on the history of Little Egg Harbor’s Five Fish Factories.


December 14, 2011- The River Wolf and the Blue Pearl: Conservation of Endangered Salmonids in Mongolia
The lakes and rivers of Northern Mongolia are among the most pristine freshwater ecosystems in the world.  Nevertheless, threats including climate change, overfishing, and mining have placed several of Mongolia’s salmonid fishes at risk.  Come discover what we are learning from two unique research projects dealing with fisheries management and climate change.


January 11, 2012- Garveys & Garvey Racing
The Jersey Garvey also referred to as the Bayman’s Boat is a flat bottomed boat traditionally made of Atlantic White Cedar used on New Jersey waterways. Boat builder, and Hurley Conklin Award winner, Bob Fricke will talk about building traditional garveys and the history of garvey racing on the Barnegat Bay.


February 8, 2012- Fish Tracking by Underwater Robot
Come meet REMUS: the history making Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) that is gathering information on fish from Alaska to New Jersey by tracking acoustically tagged fish.  You’ll also discover that this isn’t the only thing it can do!


March 14, 2012- Frogs and Toads of the Mullica River Basin
As the last rays of sun fade into the darkening sky, sounds of calling frogs and toads begin to fill the warm, night air.  Explore the distribution, reproduction, habitat preferences and vocalizations of the frogs and toads of the Mullica River basin.


April 11, 2012- Sea Nettles in the Bay
Over the past decade there has been an apparent increase in the abundance of stinging sea nettles in Barnegat Bay.  The Barnegat Bay Partnership will discuss the ongoing research efforts to understand why there may be more nettles in the bay and what actions are being undertaken to reduce their impacts.

May 9, 2012- Eel Migration in NJ Waterways
What role does Tuckerton Creek play in the life of an American eel as it passes from the ocean to freshwater?  What does fish passage have to do with their life cycle?  Come discover the research that is being done to evaluate restoration techniques for American eel migration as you learn more on the life of this fascinating creature.
