Step 3: Define your community needs

(Chapter 4 – Defining Your Community’s Needs)

The planning team should clearly identify the land use planning needs within the community and collect information on theses issues. The questions below need to be answered when your planning teams identifies your community needs.

The answers to these questions form the “master list”. Revisit the community vision to make sure that the goals expressed there are addresses by your list of needs…if an important item is missing, add it to your list of current needs. (i.e. if you envision economic or population growth in the coming years, make sure that you evaluate whether expanded capacity of your drinking water, waste water and solid waste facilities is needed.)
