Coastal Training Program (CTP) at JCNERR - Market Analysis and Needs Assessment
One of the major thrusts of the Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve (JC NERR) program is to develop and provide information for better resource management. Community leaders, resource users, planners, regulators and resource managers make decisions each day that affect land use and the use of coastal resources. Difficult decisions are routinely made with insufficient information. CDM workshops now serve as the backbone of a suite of technical training opportunities offered through the Coastal Training Initiative (CTP) currently being developed in many of the 26 Reserves in the NERR system. The Reserve conducted a market analysis to assist the development of a comprehensive education program that does not duplicate the efforts of other organizations, to identify new partners who can work cooperatively with the reserve, and to help build on the Reserve’s current educational efforts. In addition to the market ananlysis, the JC NERR conducted a needs assessment with the coastal management community to determine the range and scope of products, services, and outreach efforts that will best serve the New Jersey coastal management community's needs. Responsive Management (visit their site at: www.responsivemanagement.com), a natural resource and environmental survey research firm, worked with the Reserve to develop and execute thses surveys. The links below are the final reports of their findings. |
