Research Interests:
Stress induction of retrotransposable elements in diatoms; Evoluation rates in phytoplankton; Bio-optics phytoplankton populations; Integrated Ocean Observatories; Global water mass identification based on SeaWifs and AVHRR data.


Personal Interests:
On a lighter note, I am an avid sports fan, SCUBA and free diver, fisherman (person), golfer and a former starting left offensive tackle for the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo football team. If it had survived, the XFL was probably in my future.
