Naval Atlantic Meteorology and Oceanography Center

The Naval Atlantic Meteorology and Oceanography Center (NLMOC) is located in Norfolk, Virginia and serves as a facility for the distribution of Atlantic Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) information to the Atlantic Fleet.

Naval Research Laboratory at Washington, D.C.

The NRL is located in Washington, D.C. The NRL is the corporate research laboratory for the Navy and Marine Corps and conducts a broad program of scientific research, technology and advanced development.

Naval Undersea Warfare Center

The Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) is the Navy's full-spectrum research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support center for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive weapons systems associated with undersea warfare. NUWC is headquartered in Rhode Island, and has two major subordinate activities -- Division Newport (also in RI) and Division Keyport (in Washington State).

Naval Research Lab at Stennis Space Center

NRL-SSC is located in the southwest corner of Mississippi. SSC is the center of naval oceanography and the largest such grouping in the world. NRL-SSC occupies over 200,000 square feet of research, computation, laboratory, administrative, warehouse, and other facilities at SSC. Facilities include a number of large antennas to receive available oceanographic and meteorological satellite data

Naval Research Lab in Monterey, California

NRL Monterey is the only scientific center in the Navy wholly dedicated to atmospheric research. It is responsible for conducting research and development to provide objective local, regional, and global atmospheric analysis and prediction as well as the development of automated weather interpretation systems to support Naval Operations; that is, the effect of atmospheric changes on naval communications and weapons systems.

NONPROFIT RESEARCH LAB PARTNERS

Florida Environmental Research Institute (FERI)

The Florida Environmental Research Institute (FERI) is a non-profit research institute, incorporated in  May of 1998, focusing on computational ecology and  remote sensing technologies. Its main research goal is to  develop ecological forecast models for the coastal ocean  in an effort to monitor and predict human and natural  impacts on oceanographic systems. To accomplish this  goal, FERI develops research tools to analyze biological, chemical, physical, and optical data from newly-developed  in-water and satellite oceanographic instrumentation.

Mote Marine Laboratory

Mote Marine Laboratory (MML) is an independent, nonprofit research organization dedicated to excellence in marine science and education. Although internationally recognized through the scientific staff's research and publications, much of the Laboratory's efforts are directed toward the Southwest Florida coastal region. Through this research, the laboratory provides the exchange of scientific information, hosts visiting investigators, student interns, seminars and conferences.

FOR-PROFIT RESEARCH LAB PARTNERS
HOBI Labs & Research Laboratory

HOBI Labs is located in Tucson, Arizona, and was founded with a dual vision of creating the first private, for-profit marine research institute in the U.S. as well as a company that provides the aquatic-optics research community with innovative, robust and scientifically accurate instrumentation not available anywhere else. HOBI Labs is also a private marine research laboratory that conducts basic and applied research on a wide range of problems in aquatic optics.

SPONSORS

Office of Naval Research

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) sponsors science and technology in support of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. ONR today funds work at more than 450 universities, laboratories, and other organizations. From oceanography, advanced materials, sensors, and robotics to biomedical science and technology; from electronics, surveillance, and neurotechnology to manufacturing technology and information science; from advanced combat systems to other technologies for ships, submarines, aircraft, and ground vehicles—work ONR sponsored has produced the laser, the Global Positioning System (GPS), 50 Nobel prizes, and thousands of other discoveries and products used every day around the world.

National Science Foundation (NSF)

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent agency of the U.S. Government. NSF promotes the progress of science to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; and to secure the national defense. It initiates and supports, through grants and contracts, scientific and engineering research and programs to strengthen scientific and engineering research potential, and education programs at all levels, and appraise the impact of research upon industrial development and the general welfare.

National Oceanographic Partnership Program (NOPP)

The National Oceanographic Partnership Program (NOPP) is a collaboration of fourteen Federal agencies to provide leadership and coordination of national oceanographic research and education programs. NOPP facilitates new interactions among federal agencies, academia and industry; increases visibility for ocean issues on the national agenda; and achieves a higher level of coordinated effort and synergy across the broad oceanographic community.

Mid-Atlantic Bight - National Undersea Research Center (MAB-NURC)

NOAA's Undersea Research Center for the Middle Atlantic Bight region (MAB) seeks to understand the processes governing change and stability at spatial and temporal scales not obtainable with conventional oceanographic techniques. Since its creation in 1992, the Center has focused on establishing Long-term Ecosystem Observatories (LEO's) that enable multi-disciplinary science using in situ observations and manipulations. At LEO-15, scuba and seafloor observatory studies have described recruitment of fish and benthic invertebrates, and the effects of waves and currents on sediment and pollutant transport, seafloor characteristics, and benthic community dynamics.

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

NASA Headquarters, located in Washington, D.C., exercises management over the space flight centers, research centers, and other installations that constitute NASA. Responsibilities of Headquarters cover the determination of programs and projects; establishment of management policies, procedures, and performance criteria; evaluation of progress; and the review and analysis of all phases of the aerospace program.

New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJ BPU)

This board ensures safe, adquate and proper utility service at reasonable rates for the customers of New Jersey.

New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP)

New Jersey became the third state in the country to consolidate its past programs into a unified major agency to adminsiter agressive environmental protection and conservation efforts. This agency became known as NJDEP. It began its role to manage natural resources and solve pollution problems. Now it is a leader in the country for its pollution prevention efforts and innovative enviromental management strategies.

New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT)
