THE C.O.O.L. "MACHIN"

November 2002

The Rutgers COOL group finally got their van! This van will primarily be used to transport all equipment, tools, parts, etc. for CODAR work. It was custom-made by Ford Motor Company. Inside the van are shelving to one side (Fig. a), and storage cabinets on the other (Fig. b). Not only is storage space provided, there is also a power supply for electrical items. You can find the power supply at the lower right-hand corner of Figure a. Various CODAR sites are spread across the coast of New Jersey. To assist in testing equipment at these sites, the van is equipped with an antenna stand. The RU CODAR team then can place an antenna up on the van (Fig. c), and test whether proper signals ares obtained by the satellite(s). This van is not limited to CODAR work. It will also help transport AUVs, Gliders, and other large equipment for site and field works.
