Physical data is obtained via two separate methods--transects and moorings. Transects involve the research vessel motoring along a predetermined path while deploying instrumentation at specified intervals. Transect instrumentation includes hand-lowered CTDs and LISSTs (individual lowerings referred to as casts), along with a Workhorse ADCP towed alongside the vessel and a GPS continually logging to obtain a shiptrack. Moorings are placed in three locations, KVK (Kill Van Kull), NB (Newark Bay, near the mouths of the Hackensack and Passaic Rivers), and PA (Perth Amboy), and data is collected continuously for approximately three weeks per deployment.
*Currently, the best place to obtain mooring data is on Dr. Robert Chant's page (see above section)
