Research Interests of Andreas Münchow
I am interested in the dynamics of the coastal ocean which I study primarily with instruments that move. These are
drifters
and shipboard sensors.
My goal is to describe and explain observations in concise dynamical terms, i.e., with non-dimensional parameters that result from scaling analyses.
My interests fall into five broad categories:
Wind and buoyancy forced motions on shallow shelves
Circulation off New Jersey
(Hudson River)
Circulation off Siberia
(Kolyma River)
Beaufort Arctic Storms Experiment
(Mackenzie River)
Alaska Coastal Current
and
salmon
migrations
Flows near steeply sloping topography
Canyon Dynamics (
Barrow
and Mackenzie Canyons)
Circulation over the shelfbreak of the Chukchi Sea
Impact of fresh water fluxes on climate
Flow through the Canadian Archipelago
Time Series Analysis
Tides
