Welcome to the
Oceanography Graduate Students Association (OGSA) at the Institute of Marine and Coastal
Sciences (IMCS), Rutgers University.
The primary mission of the OGSA is to serve as an information resource
and foundation for the community of graduate students at IMCS.
Currently, the OGSA is comprised of 2 master's and 26 doctoral
students. Additionally, several OGSA members
conduct joint research in other departments at Rutgers such as Geology, Ecology and Evolution,
or Environmental Science.
Please
refer to the FAQ link at right if you have
questions;
especially questions regarding admissions, degree programs, funding,
courses, and student life. Students are not admitted to the IMCS
graduate program unless 5 years of graduate research funding is
available. Consequently, graduate students are encouraged to explore
the various labs and projects before deciding on their thesis research.
The small size of the IMCS graudate program, coupled with the extensive
resources available to students allows
for creative and flexible dissertation research which is
custom-tailored by both the student and their advisor(s).
