Getting to the Institute of Marine and Coastal
Sciences by train and Rutgers campus bus
These
directions are adapted from instructions at http://nbweb.rutgers.edu/menus/transportation.shtml
Take New
Jersey Transit to New Brunswick station. To look up the schedule on NJ Transit's web page you need to know that New
Brunswick is on the Northeast Corridor
line. Amtrak trains don't stop at New Brunswick, but it is easy to transfer to
NJ Transit at Metropark (southbound) or Trenton (northbound). There is NJ
Transit train service from Newark Liberty
International Airport to New Brunswick.
To get to
IMCS from the New Brunswick station either take a taxi to IMCS on the Rutgers
Cook Campus, corner of Dudley Rd and College Farm Rd, or take the Route EE Rutgers Campus
Bus that runs every 10 minutes during semester. (Online info at http://www.nextbus.com/predictor/stopSelector.jsp?a=rutgers)
To reach
the campus bus stop, walk to the north end of the platform and down the steps.
From the southbound (from NY) platform this puts you right at the bus stop.
From the northbound (from Trenton) platform you need to descend the steps, then
walk under the railroad bridge and turn left to the stop on Somerset St.
The EE bus
is free, no ID required. You are headed for the Cook and Douglass Campuses if
you want to ask the driver if it's the right bus. Get off at the LIPMAN HALL stop. You are then on Lipman Drive. Continue
walking in the direction the bus goes. The Marine and Coastal Sciences building
will be on your right when you reach the intersection with Dudley Road. There
is a big concrete wave on the grass in front.
If you are
staying at the University Inn
(178 Ryders Lane, New Brunswick) it is a short walk to the Marine and Coastal
Sciences Building, but you'll need to consult a map first
on how to get here.
